Greetings from Abilene, a city located near the center of the great State of Texas!

The Abilene Fire Department was officially organized in 1886 by a handful of residents who wished to address Abilene's fire protection needs. It served as a city service as well as a social club creating a "family" made up of firefighters, children, wives, and other citizens. Today, our department is staffed by 171 civil service and 5 support personnel. The department has changed a lot over the years, but we still have a family relationship among our members that still work very hard to serve the 114,454 people living within Abilene's 110.7 square miles.
